Man Hit With Charges After Refusing to Stop for Police in Rockville, Report Says

He was also delinquent on a drug infraction ticket, police said.

An attempted motor vehicle stop on Prospect Street on Wednesday night turned into a number of charges against a Vernon man, according to a police report.

The incident took place at about 8 p.m., when a Rockville beat officer tried to stop 27-year-old Vincent Wells for a lane violation, a police report indicates.

Wells, who is listed in a report as a Vernon resident with no current address, did not stop and proceeded to the driveway at 106 Prospect St., police said. He stopped at the rear of the residence and two passengers exited the vehicle and refused to obey commands of the officer, according to a report. Wells also left the vehicle and ran inside the home, police said.

He came out a short time later and was taken into custody, police said.

Police learned there was an active warrant for his arrest for failing to pay a drug-related infraction, according to a report.

For the incident on Prospect Street, he was charged with disobeying an officer, a lane violation, and interfering, according to a report.

He was held overnight on a $1,500 bond and was to appear in court on Thursday, police said.
