Man Arrested for Allegedly Shooting Another Man in the Face

Police said the incident took place on West Main Street.

Vernon police have charged a 19-year-old West Main St. resident with shooting a neighbor in the face with a pellet gun during an argument on Sept. 11.

At 1:21 a.m. that day, officers went to 144 West Main Street to look for a wanted person, according to a news release issued on Monday. While they were looking around the premises, which houses the Olde Rockville Tavern and some apartments, the officers were asked if they were at the location because of the man "who had been shot," according to the news release.  

Officers immediately began looking for a shooting victim and found a trail of blood leading to an apartment on West Main Street. 

The man was located and officers learned that hew had been shot in the face with a pellet gun at least three times, according to a news release. The man was first transported to Rockville General Hospital and then Hartford Hospital because of the extent of his injuries, police said.

The man has since been released from the hospital, police said. 

An investigation determined that the victim had been sitting on the steps outside his apartment and an argument took place between he and and Justin Robinson, who lives at 118 West Main St.

Robinson, 19, is accused of shooting the man in the face with a pellet gun and fleeing the scene, police said. He could not be located that night, according to a news release.

A warrant was obtained for Robinson's arrest and he was located and taken into custody at 9:30 p.m. on Monday, police said.

He is charged with second-degree assault with a firearm, carrying a dangerous weapon, the unlawful discharge of a firearm and breach of peace, police said.

He was being held on a $300,000 bond Monday night while awaiting a court date, police said.
