High Pains for Drifter After Detective Chases Him Down
Police interrupted an alleged drug deal in Rockville.
A drifter is due in court on Tuesday to face a plethora of charges after a detective on uniform duty interrupted a recent alleged drive-by drug deal in Rockville, police said.
Vernon police said they have encountered Juan Montalvo before, but not for some time. The 31-year-old has no current address, according to a June 14 arrest report. That day, at 10:15 p.m., a Vernon detective on patrol in uniform drove by 6 Oak St. and witnessed a "drug hand-off," involving Montalvo, police said. When confronted by the detective, Montalvo fled to the back yard of the home, but was chased down, police said.
He had to be subdued with a Taser before being taken into custody, police said.
A bag of nine suspected "Molly" capsules were found during the incident, police said.
Montalvo's charges include:
• Possessing a controlled substance within 1,500 feet of a school of day care.
• Interfering with police.
• Possession of a hallucinogen.
• Sale/Possession of certain illegal drugs.
• Tampering with evidence.
