Firefighters Battle East Windsor Blaze

Four fire companies fought the flames in a multi-family home in Warehouse Point.

Firefighters from four area fire departments battled frigid temperatures in working to put out a fire Thursday night in the Warehouse Point section of East Windsor.

The fire was in a multi-family home at 67 North Main St., just north of the Maine Fish Market and Restaurant and just south of the Enfield town line.

Fire personnel from Warehouse Point, Broad Brook, Enfield and Windsor Locks worked to put out the blaze, which was reported shortly before 9 p.m. The fire was knocked down by 10 p.m.

From the ground, the second floor of the building appeared to have sustained the most damage.

Property records show the 2,400+ square foot structure was built in 1850.

Police blocked off the intersection of Bridge Street and North Main Street, re-routing traffic through the Bank of America parking lot across from the Geissler's Plaza.

Warehouse Point Fire Chief James Barton was working at the scene and not immediately available for comment.

I remember that too, Larry. As a life long resident of East Windsor, that property is a piece of local history. Any word on if people were hurt? I hope not. Thanks again to the brave fire fighters and first responders that always get there, no matter what time it is or what the weather is.

I don't know if people were hurt... I live on the shoreline in Niantic but as a life long resident of Windsor Locks I remember most of what was in that area. My Dad bought me my first 3 speed bicycle Marsh Motorcycle and I went to school with Cecilia Balf. Her Dad had the drug store on the corner where the Fish Market is.... Times have sure changed...

Hi Larry and Katinhat, To our knowledge, no one was hurt, thank goodness. We'll have a follow up as soon as information becomes available. Best, Megan
