Ellington Man Facing More Trouble

Latest incident in Vernon another in a history of crimes at 11 Westland Road in Ellington.

An Ellington man, already in court for a separate matter, was taken into custody on Monday by Vernon police and is now facing a pair of hefty bonds related to narcotics crimes, according to an arrest report.

John Richard Newton, 25, of 11 Westland Road, Ellington, was in Vernon Superior Court just before noon on Wednesday when he was handed over to Vernon police after authorities learned of two outstanding warrants against him.

Each warrant carries a bond of $50,000, police said.

Charges on each are for conspiracy to possess narcotics, conspiracy to sell certain illegal drugs, narcotics possession and the sale and possession of certain illegal drugs.

Police did not elaborate on the specific drugs involved, but said the incidents took place on Sept. 24 and Oct. 28.

A new court date has not yet been assigned to Newton.

There has been a trail of trouble over the past few months at the 11 Westland Road residence.

On March 1, Newton was arrested for violating his probation.

On Feb 18, Lisa M. Anselmo, 20, of 32 Cheyenne Rd., East Hartford, was arrested on a warrant for an incident which occurred at the house on May 13. She was charged with breach of peace and third-degree assault.

Ginni R. Gonyea, 23, of 10 West St., Vernon, was also arrested that day for breach of peace and third-degree assault.

On Feb. 12, Justin A. Newton, 18, of 11 Westland Road and a 17-year-old male were arrested. Newton was charged with third-degree motor vehicle theft, conspiracy to commit a crime, evading responsibility leading to physical injury or property damage.

The 17-year-old, considered a youthful offender, was charged with conspiracy to commit  a crime and making a false statement.

The back yards on the odd-numbered side of Westland Road sit on the Ellington-Vernon line, off Windsorville Road, close to the Five Corners Intersection.
