Ellington Man Charged With Drug Forgery in Vernon

The East Central Narcotics Task Force had been investigating the case.

The East Central Narcotics Task Force on Thursday charged an Ellington man with obtaining prescription drugs illegally at pharmacies in Vernon, a task force news release indicates. 

Janusz Surowka, 35, of 7 Gabriel Dr., Ellington, was charged with criminal attempt/possession of a controlled substance by fraud, possessing a forged prescription and second-degree forgery, according to a task force news release. 
He was being held on Thursday night on a $25,000 bond, police said. 

On Thursday, task force officer executed a search warrant at the home of Surowka. There has been an ongoing investigation into prescription fraud there, according to a news release. 

Surowka had allegedly been obtaining Fentanyl Patches (a narcotic pain reliever) via fraudulent prescriptions at pharmacies in Vernon, according to a news release. Task force members were able establish enough probable cause to obtain an arrest warrant for Surowka, and for a warrant to search Surowka’s residence in Ellington, according to a news release. 

Task force members found Fentanyl Patches, false prescriptions, heroin and other drug paraphernalia at the residence, according to a news release. 

Surowka was taken into custody without incident, police said.

The task force consists of officers in Vernon, Manchester, South Windsor and Glastonbury.
