Drug Task Force Raids Village Street House

A resident has been charged with several crimes.

Officers from the East Central Narcotics Task Force raided a Village Street apartment on Tuesday and took a second-floor resident into custody on numerous drug charges, according to a news release issued by the task force.

Task force officers had developed information that "narcotic activity" was taking place at 39 Village St., according to the news release.

Task force officers were able to obtain a search warrant and then executed it at a second-floor apartment at the house, according to a news release. Officers seized marijuana, Hydrocodone pills, scales, packaging, a loaded .45-caliber handgun and other drug paraphernalia, according to a news release.  

A resident, Timothy Brown, was arrested without incident, police said.

Brown is a convicted felon, and should not have a firearm in his possession, police said. There was also a 15-year-old at the residence during the search and police said they would be notifying the state Department of Children and Families about the arrest.

Police said the charges against the 44-year-old Brown include:

• Possession of marijuana.

• Possession of marijuana with intent to sell.

• Possession of narcotics.

• Possession of drug paraphernalia.

• Criminal possession of a firearm.

• Risk of injury to a minor.

His bond was set at $50,000.

According to town records, the home is owned by Marcelo Mera of Jamaica, NY. It was purchased in 1992 for $40,000 after being sold for $120,000 four years earlier.

The East Central Narcotics Task Force operates in Manchester, South Windsor, Vernon and Glastonbury.
