Cars Burglarized at Popular Vernon Gym

Burglars smashed car windows and took a number of personal items from vehicles parked at Cardio Express while residents worked out early Friday  morning, police said. 

The gym is located on Talcottville Road - Route 83 - at the Merline Road intersection.

Police spokesman William Meier said the incidents were reported at about 6 a.m. on Friday A number of purses were taken out of the vehicles, he said.

Cardio Express staff members were still sweeping up glass at 8:30 this morning, a gym member said.

Meier asked anyone who may have witnessed the burglaries or who may have seen a suspicious vehicle in the area at that time to call Vernon police at 860-872-9126. The incident is being investigated, he said.
