Busy Weekend for Police

Domestics and DUI incidents highlight the blotter and a man is facing a sex offense charge in South Windsor, police said.

Arrests for driving under the influence and domestic incidents kept Vernon police busy over the Easter/Passover weekend.

And a resident is facing a sex offense charge out of South Windsor, police said.

Here is a summary of the police activity:

At 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, police stopped Wahad Dode, 23, of 48 Jessica Dr., South Windsor, for speeding and unsafe passing on Talcottville Road - Route 83 - near Allen Drive, according to an arrest report.

He subsequently failed a series of field sobriety tests and was arrested for DUI, police said.

He was released on a $1,000 bond and assigned a court date of April 8, police said.

He was also charged with traveling unreasonably fast and improper passing, according to an arrest report.



At 2:03 p.m. on Sunday, a police dispatcher received an emergency call from a citizen following a vehicle allegedly swerving, according to an arrest report. Officers were able to find the vehicle at the Springville Mill Apartment complex at 155 West Main St., according to an arrest report.

Field Sobriety Tests were conducted and the driver - Steven Dyal, 48, who lives nib the complex, was placed under arrest for DUI., police said.

He was to appear in court on Monday, police said.



A couple was charged with second-degree breach of peace following a fight at 2:19 a.m. on Sunday at the Motel 6, 51 Hartford Turnpike, police said.

Luz Acevedo, 36, of 237 Spruce St., Manchester, and Keith McLennon, 42, who is listed in an arrest report as living at the hotel, were also charged with violating a protective order, police said.

Both were to appear in court on Monday, police said.



Police responded to a domestic violence complaint at 9 River St. at 8:20 p.m. on Saturday, according to an arrest report.

Mala Brown, 45, was charged with disorderly conduct and was given a Monday court date after porting a $2,500 bond, police said.

William Warren Patten, 39, was charged with narcotics possession after police found a pain pill on him for which he did not have a prescription, according to an arrest report. He is due in court on April 9, police said.



Police said Corey Manson, 19, of 7 Linwood Dr., Bloomfield, admitted to smoking marijuana after a traffic stop at 9:13 p.m. on Friday, according to an arrest report. He was charged with improper parking and DUI, police said.
He posted a $250 bond and was assigned a April 8 court date, police said.



Matthew Toce, 20, of 15 Michael Dr., Enfield, was charged with marijuana possession at 4 p.m. on Thursday, police said.

He posted a $2,500 bond and was given a court date of April 9, police said.



Joseph Clark, 49, of 55 Oakland St., Manchester, was charged with two counts of violating a protective order after an incident at 5:40 a.m. on Thursday, police said.



A Vernon man is facing charges after he allegedly inappropriately touched a 17-year-old girl in the presence of two children, according to South Windsor Police.

Miguel Saenz-Prieto, 28, of 964 Hartford Tpke., was charged on March 28 with sexual assault in the fourth degree and risk of injury to a minor.  He was released on a $10,000 surety bond and is scheduled to appear at Manchester Superior Court on April 11.

Saenz-Prieto’s charges stem from a December 2012 complaint.
