The Coventry Police Department is investigating an attempted burglary at the landmark Bidwell Tavern, Chief Mark Palmer said on Wednesday.

The Bidwell is located at 1260 Main St. in Coventry.

The the attempt was made just before 2 A.M. on Friday, Oct. 25, Palmer said.

No entry was made, but the suspect’s image was recorded, he said.

Police Departments in East Lyme and Groton are investigating similar break-ins in their towns, Palmer said. The East Lyme Police are investigating a break-in at the Lyme Tavern at approximately 2 a.m. on Tuesday Oct. 22, Palmer said.

Many of the suspect’s actions were similar to those recorded at the Bidwell. A video was also obtained in the East Lyme case.

Still photographs are attached from both incidents, and it appears that the same person committed both crimes, Palmer said.
