Booms Bigger Than Busts At July In The Sky

Just one alcohol arrest was made, police said.

A report issued by the Vernon Police Department indicates that it was a peaceful night - and traffic cleared out quickly - at the annual July in the Sky fireworks celebration.

Lt. John Kelley of the VPD called it a "quiet year" in Downtown Rockville and at Henry Park and Northeast School.

Kelley said emergency workers responded to several medical cases, but no one was seriously injured.

Two lost people were located and four lost items were returned to police, he said.

Traffic cleared out in 20 minutes in Rockville and 50 minutes at Henry Park, he said.

For both locations, there was just one motor vehicle accident, he said. One arrest was made at Henry Park for alcohol possession and police responded to three disorderly complaints, Kelley said.

The event was July 3.
