Bonds Totaling $75,000 Slapped on East Hartford Man

He failed to appear in court in two instances, police said.

An East Hartford man with two outstanding Vernon cases has failed to show up in court and was rearrested by police on Wednesday, according to an arrest report.

Matthew Hakim Douglas, 24, of 27 Indian Hill Rd., East Hartford, was charged with failure to appear in two cases, police said. He was arrested by another agency and taken to Vernon headquarters, according to a police report.

Douglas was arrested on May 25 and made bail on a $25,000 bond, according to court records. He was charged with third-degree assault, second-degree breach of peace and interfering with police, court records indicate. His rearrest was ordered on Dec. 5, according to court records.

It was also ordered for another case - three counts of criminal mischief from an Aug. 15 arrest, according to court records. He was free on a promise to appear in court.

His bond is now $75,000 for both cases. He is due in court on Feb. 19, police said.
