At Least One Dead in Vernon Crash

Four-car accident on I-84 between Exits 65 and 66 will shut down the highway "for some time," according to fire chief.

Connecticut State Police and Vernon firefighters are still working at the scene of a multi-car accident on Interstate 84 that killed at least one motorist just after 10:15 p.m. on Monday.

Vernon Fire Chief William Call said the four-car crash in the westbound lanes between Exits 65 and 66 sent one vehicle down an embankment and ejected one of the occupants.

He said one person was dead at the scene and the highway was closed while the crash was being investigated.

Call anticipated the highway being shut down for some time. The stretch of highway is straight and runs between Tunnel Road at Exit 66 and the Route 30 business corridor.
