Tuesday's Council Meeting: Decorations, Gardens and a Nice Check

A few light-hearted moments from Tuesday's meeting.

Here are some light-hearted highlights from Tuesday's Town Council meeting:
 
Mayor Daniel Champagne took his seat at the heed of the dais on Tuesday and marveled at the poinsettias set on the table.

Council member Adam Weissberger personally greeted every person who walked into the council chambers. 

• 

The Housing Authority Presented a check for $75,000 to Champagne as its annual contribution in lieu of taxes. 

• 

Council member Virginia Gingras said the Vernon Garden Club has offered to assist Rockville High School students with their community service requirements. The club recently hosted four students. The students then helped out over at the Strong Family Farm, she said. 

• 

Champagne said more than 1,200 food items were collected for the Hockanum Valley Community Council's food pantry as part of former mayor George Apel's challenge to town departments.
