Administration Requesting Bid Waiver for Amerbelle Security Measures

The council has already set aside funding.

Town Officials are asking the Town Council to waive the traditional bid process so work to secure the old Amerbelle Textiles complex can proceed.

The council has twice set aside $75,000 to pay for security and other safety measures at the old complex, the main building of which dates back to the Civil War era.

A court injunction is allowing the town to take care of safety at the complex.

The administration has received three quotes for the work and chose the $15,090 estimate from Vernon-based T&S Building & Remodeling, according to documentation attached the council agenda.

Other quotes were $30,000 from JP Maguire Associates of Waterbury and $27,000 from Norwich-based Weise Construction and Environmental Services Inc.

The work would primarily be to secure windows and garage doors on the property, according to the packet documentation.
