Vernon 9-10 Little League Tournament Team Treated unfairly

First let me personally thank the first year coach of this tournament team who, in the absolute quintessential spirit of Little League Baseball, showed the boys of Vernon what it is to be a leader and treat all players fairly.

I want to thank both Peter Walsh and Wayne Opdenbrouw who were up till the early morning hours trying to correct this situation.  These two fine men are living the spirit of the Vernon Little League and what it represents.

This morning, it was unfortunate that the 9 to 10 year old Vernon Little League Baseball tournament team had to be told that they would not be playing in the next round.  last night, as of 1030 PM, they were told by the Little League Local Management that they were in the tournament.   All week long, the manager was told a different story about the tournament bracket about other teams.  As of 1030PM, on Tuesday he thought he was in the playoffs.  Image the heart broken little hearts this morning as the manager had to tell them that Little League management changed their mind at 1045PM last night.  Of course this is not the onlly team that this has happened to this year.  As adults, we sometimes forget that it is supposed to be for the kids.  As a grandfather, father, and a fan of Little League, this is about the lowest thing I can recall in my almost 40 years of involvement in Little League baseball.
