More importantly, today is Veterans Day.
To commemorate the day and the quirky calendar distinction this year, here are a few quick Veterans Day facts, courtesy of the University of Connecticut Library.
Did you know that Veterans Day originated as "Armistice Day" on Nov. 11, 1919 to commemorate the end of World War I, but it didn't become a national holiday until 1938?
Since 1954, when then President Dwight D. Eisenhower changed the name to Veterans Day, the men and women who have served in our country's military have been honored in various ways, including parades, grave-side ceremonies and speeches.
