Obituary: Joseph John Minich

Joe was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving for 6 years with the United States Navy aboard the USS Midway.

Joseph John Minich, 60, a resident of Vernon for over 31 years, died Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at his residence.

He was born and educated in Cleveland, OH a son of Helen (Blasko) Minich Tomsik of Cleveland, and the late George Minich, Sr. Joe was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving for 6 years with the United States Navy aboard the USS Midway. He was employed as a sales associate for the past four years with Sam’s Club of Manchester. Joe was previously employed for many years as the manager of the former Vernon Lanes Bowling Alley. He was a NASCAR enthusiast, an amateur photographer, and loved to tinker with computers and surveillance equipment and installations. Joe was a caring, humble and genuine man who always thought of others before himself.

Besides his mother he leaves his loving daughter, Jennifer Minich and her daughter, Madison Martin of South Windsor; a brother, George Minich, Jr. of Cleveland; a sister, Patricia Beris of Garfield Heights, OH; his former wife, Annette Reale of Enfield; as well as several nieces and nephews.

At his family’s request there will be no calling hours and all services will be private.

Arrangements are by the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home of Vernon.
