Why Doesn’t Vernon's Mayor Apel Stop This Foolish Spending?

3. Overtime for managers is Vernon's new policy. Mayor Apel is perpetuating and expanding foolish spending.

Mayor Apel, give the local news outlets the public information they have requested. Connecticut's Freedom of Information statute is designed for laypeople. Clearly, if Vernon spends money on it, it’s public information. Why do you and the two town attorneys refuse to save Vernon's taxpayers thousands of dollars in attorneys’ fees by simply providing the information the law requires when it's requested?

Mayor Apel, your personal public relations aide was never needed before and isn’t needed now. By contracting with a private employment agency for this unnecessary service, Vernon's hiring procedures were circumvented. Maintaining this position continues to subvert the intent of the Town Charter that calls for all positions to be budgeted. This position was not in the budget and is a waste of money.
