Large Recycling Bins Available

If your Vernon recycling cart is smaller than your garbage cart, you can switch to a larger recycling cart.

Is your Vernon recycling cart smaller than your garbage cart? If so, you can obtain a 50% larger recycling cart by calling the Vernon Department of Public Works at 860-870-3500 to arrange a switch.

I've attached a scan of Vernon DPW Director Robert Kleinhans' letter to that effect.

Despite being asked repeatedly over three months, Vernon's administrators have not explained why residents in some Vernon neighborhoods received the smaller recycling carts.

The recycling container we have is currently large enough, usually taking us about two weeks to fill up. If that changes, I'll look into acquiring a larger one. Seems like a non issue to me.

The container size makes no difference to me. I was surprised at how much money we are saving by recycling. Recycling is good for the pocketbook and good for the planet.

It is sad that you have to perpetuate the negativity that has plagued an otherwise wonderful school…Read More district. If you think that Vernon is in the "Bottom 30" because for the last 2 weeks your child has done nothing but watch movies, that is even sadder. However I do have this question for you, how do you know that is all they have done? Have you called the teacher and asked him or her? I have always found that at times what my child has said is exaggerated. I like to talk to the adult before just taking the word of my child. Maybe they are watching them part of the day which I am sure happens in any district, even ones in the top 20, at the end of the school year. However, if you are not happy with Vernon there are other options out there, instead of slamming your school system through media.
