Vernon Greenways Volunteers Spring Kickoff Meeting

                  FEATURE TOPIC: TANKERHOOSEN VALLEY TREASURES

On Wednesday, April, 23, 2014 at 7 PM the Vernon Greenways Volunteers will conduct their Ninth Annutal Spring Kick-Off Meeting at the Teen Center located at 375 Hartford Tpke (Route 30).

After an opening session to introduce who we are and what we plan to do in 2014 featured speaker Jon Roe will present "Tankerhoosen Valley Treasures". Who better to talk about the Tankerhoosen Valley than the publisher of the Tankerhoosen Newsletter and the orignator/web master of the www.Tankerhoosen.info/ web page?

The Tankerhoosen River Valley that contains the five mile long Tankerhoosen River was selected in 2007 by the Ct DEEP's Greenway Council as an Officially Designated Greenways.  Like the Rockville section of Vernon it has its own history: old mills, manufacturing, murder, lost villages, war heroes, scientific discovery and enterprising pioneers.

Jon will take you on a tour of the Tankerhoosen Valley exploring special gardens, landscape features, historical sites and share the beauty of the area, as well, as the stories of those who visited or lived here.

The public is welcome.  So, come and join us.  Refreshments will be served.
