Vernon's Daily 5: Kaitlyn Says Here Comes the Sun

The RHS band is conducting a fund-raiser on Saturday at the Vernon Stop & Shop.

1. The forecast from AOL Weather: Sunny skies. High around 50. Winds NW at 10 to 15 mph. Today's weather picture is from Kaitlyn, a third-grader at Lake Street School.


2. The RHS Marching Ram Band is sponsoring a Bottle and Can Drive on Saturday, Nov. 10, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Pitkin Street Stop & Shop.

3. Coat and Clothes Connections second annual coat drive will be held on sat November 11 at Vernon fire dept. station 3, 100 Hartford Turnpike (across from Golf Land) from 11-2. All items will be donated to the victims of hurricane Sandy.

4. The Hall Memorial Library on 93 Main Street in Ellington will feature Vernon's Charles M. Wright and his photography collection on butterflies.  This collection will be on display on Saturday November 10th.  A reception will be held 1-4pm with an artist presentation/lecture at 2pm. Exhibit will be on display throughout November and December. 

5. Today, Gov. Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman will announce the creation of a new state resource for U.S. military veterans seeking to access services in Connecticut during an event at Tunxis Community College in Farmington.
