Roads Cleared Quickly After Overnight Snowfall

Post any cancellations or postponements in the comments.

The few inches of snow that fell overnight seemed to be cleared early and there were just a small amount of incidents on the roads in Vernon this morning.

Schools were closed, however and many events were called off. The rumbling of snow-clearing machinery could be heard throughout the neighborhoods.

Just two traffic incidents seemed to stand out - a transit bus that became stuck in some snow build-up on Route 30 and a minor incident between a passenger vehicle and municipal snowplow at the intersection of West Road and Ogden View Drive.

The bus briefly blocked the road but was quickly towed away, a responding officer said. The crash on West seemed to cause minor damage, but Department of Public Works supervisors and police responded to the scene.

Postponements and cancellations can be added to the comment stream.

Early on, it was a day when the new patrol sport utility vehicle art the Vernon police department came in handy.

When asked what the difference was to the traditional sedan, Sgt. Kerry Reynolds said it was significant. She wound up giving it to one of the patrol officers to make his day a little easier.
