Hurricane Sandy: 60 Vernon Residents Still Without Power on Thursday

Here is a 9 p.m. Hurricane Sandy recovery update from Vernon Emergency Management officials:

• All roads are clear of electrical hazards and trees with wires.

• All "critical locations" were restored by 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 30.

• Box Mountain Drive customers and the electric feed to the cell tower were restored by Noon on Thursday.

• The pine tree that landed on secondary conductors and AT&T wires on Center Road near near Robin Road was removed and new electric conductors were installed Wednesday night.

• All "medium and large" groups of customers without power were restored on Thursday.

• There are 60 Vernon residents without power as of 9 p.m. Thursday and their power should be restored on Friday.

• The only overnight work in Vernon involves the replacement of some equipment on Loveland Hill Road, across from Rockville High School. The  repair does not affect the high school, but is for the two apartment buildings on Loveland Hill Road. The repair should get power back to  an additional 24 Connecticut Light & Power customers.
