REP. JANOWSKI BRIEFED BY STATE MILITARY DEPARTMENT

State Representative Claire Janowski (D-Vernon, Rockville) attended an agency briefing of the State of Connecticut Military Department last week at the invitation of the General Assembly’s Veterans Affairs Committee. The briefing at the William A. O'Neill Armory, across from the Legislative Office Building in Hartford, included an extensive presentation by Major General Thaddeus Martin that focused on the Armory Construction Purchase Program, new and existing facilities throughout the state and the operations of the Connecticut Military Department and its principal components, the Army National Guard and Air National Guard. “It was a great opportunity to learn about the Windsor Locks Readiness Center at Bradley International Airport currently under construction and the other readiness centers throughout the state like the Armory in Rockville. Not only are our soldiers deployed to support federal missions worldwide, they also play a vital role in supporting our state in disaster response like Super Storm Sandy. They truly deserve our thanks and support,” Rep. Janowski said. A walk-through tour of the William A. O'Neill Armory was also provided that included the Emergency Operations Center, the Planning Room, the Press Room and the Boiler Room where all the mechanical functions are housed. The briefing was attended by several legislators and staff.
