Visions for Vacancies: What Would Put a Route 83 Parcel Ahead of the Curve?

What would be a good fit for a cleared parcel?

So …

What used to be there?

Now what do you think should be there now?

Vernon Patch loves your input, and in a regular feature call Visions for Vacancies, we ask you to match the best use to a vacant commercial property in town.

This time, we travel up Route 83 to the now-cleared lot across the street from Scranton Motors and Stop & Shop. The supermarket, in fact, is busy developing a new 10-pump gas station.

The vacancy used to be home to an auto shop and before that a Suzuki car dealership. The lot, just after a curve, can be tricky, but Economic Development Director Shaun Gately said it is actively being marketed.

It sits empty, the building razed, ready for a new tenant. Yes, we have zoning regulations, but put that aside right now and just envision what would be the best fit for the parcel.

Then tell us in the comments what should go there.
