TicketNetwork Applying for Driveway, Parking Area

CEO says it is to access recreation path used by employees.

TicketNetwork is applying for a modification to property near its corporate headquarters.

The company is just three months away from a move out of Vernon, just down Route 30 and Interstate-84 to the Gerber Scientific complex just over the South Windsor line, but it has put in for a modification to a tract at 60 South Frontage Road TicketNetwork Forest LLC owns near the TicketNetwork campus on Bolton Road.

The Planning and Zoning Commission tonight is scheduled to conduct a public hearing and discuss a site plan for a "small driveway'' and a "small parking lot.''

The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Town Hall.

Economic Development Coordinator Shaun Gately said he is "not at liberty'' to discuss anything related to TicketNetwork. Company CEO Donald Vaccaro said he is not sure why a public hearing is necessary, but nevertheless is respecting the wishes of town officials.

"This is something we have been planning for the past year-and-a-half, Vaccaro said. "We're told there is a public concern, so we have to have a public hearing.''

Vaccaro said the modifications to the property concern only the employees.

There is a pathway on the property that employees use for running, walking and passive recreation that is about a half-mile in length, Vaccaro said. The plan is to provide a paved surface for parking.

Vaccaro said TicketNetwork should be fully moved into the Gerber facility by Oct. 1. He wouldn't commit to any future plans for all his Vernon properties when asked if the improvements were designed to add curb appeal for any potential sale.

Mayor Jason McCoy said it is his policy not to comment on any pending applications.
