RDA Names Officers, Board Members

Lisa Moody will again serve as president.

The Rockville Downtown Association has elected a new leadership team.
The RDA is a non-profit organization whose mission is "to protect Rockville’s historic downtown and promote and enhance its business community," according to organization literature.

Lisa Moody, a former Town Council member and member of the board of directors of the Vernon Community Arts Center, was re-elected president of the RDA.
Dan Waskiewicz, owner of Crystal Blueprint and Stationery, was re-elected vice president.

Sharon Redfern of the Rockville Public Library was chosen as secretary and Debora Ratti, also of Crystal Blueprint and Stationery, was elected  treasurer.
Rockville Bank's Gene Skladnowski, along with Waskiewicz and Ratti of Crystal Blueprint were elected to the RDA board of directors.

The RDA, which is beginning its 14th year, serves as administrator to the nationally recognized Main Street program and represents a public-private partnership that is designed to build community assets, promote economic activity and "restore a pride and loyalty to the downtown Rockville area."
The weekly “Farmer’s Market” and annual “A Cappella Slam” held at the Vernon Senior Center are among the programs sponsored by the RDA.

“The RDA has been re-energized and we have stepped up our efforts on behalf of downtown Rockville,” Moody said. “Our lighting of the Hockanum Falls by Amerbelle, sponsorship of the weekly Farmers’ Market, placement of American flags up and down East and West Main streets and other projects have brought new life to our organization. We’re helping to make Rockville an even more special place. And we have more plans in the works for the coming year.”
