Mayor George Apel on Thursday cut the ceremonial ribbon to welcome the new Tractor Supply Co. man store to Vernon.

Tractor Supply will conduct its official grand opening activities on Saturday, and is featuring specially priced merchandise through Sunday.

The store was open for business on Nov. 10.

The Vernon location is Tractor Supply’s second store in Connecticut and employs 13 people. The facility has 19,097 square feet, including sales floor and support service space.

Tractor Supply Co. bills itself as the largest retail farm and ranch supply store chain in the United States and has been operating in Connecticut since 2004.

“Vernon is a great location for Tractor Supply Company because it’s centrally located with numerous organizations our Company supports in the area, including FFA, 4-H and the local agriculture center,” Store Manager Cindy Rusinowski said. “Our friendly, knowledgeable team is here to provide the legendary Tractor Supply customer service to our neighbors. The products we carry support the ‘Out Here’ lifestyle that many community members lead, and we’re excited to help them with various projects.”

Rusinowski joined Tractor Supply in Nov. 2005 as a part-time team member at the Enfield location. She worked her way up through the company, becoming store manager of the Southwick, Mass., location. Prior to joining Tractor Supply, she was shift supervisor at CVS, horse trainer and riding instructor. The Somers native grew up on a 50-acre horse farm. In her spare time, she enjoys training her trick horse and reading.

As store manager, Rusinowski oversees all store operations, including receiving, inventory control and merchandising, as well as customer and team member relations.

To celebrate the grand opening of the store, shoppers will receive 10 percent off their first purchase, up to $100, from Nov. 15 to 18, and can enter to win prizes including store gift cards, pet feed, clothing, power tools, a 22-ton log splitter and a chain saw. Free Tractor Supply Company baseball-style hats will also be given away while supplies last.

On Saturday, the grand opening event will feature an antique tractor display.

Regular operating hours for the store, located at 404 Talcottville Rd., are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
