Is Black Friday Shopping For You?

When people start lining up late Thanksgiving night to take advantage of door-buster deals in the wee hours Friday morning, will you be there?

Love it or hate it, Black Friday is the super bowl of shopping.

And with its arrival less than a day away, Vernon people are talking about the potential savings stores big and small have to offer.

But not everyone creates their own Black Friday “game plan” on what stores to hit and when after they've poured over the announced bargains various retailers have to offer.

When asked whether you'd be participating in the Black Friday madness, many of you posted on the Vernon Patch Facebook page that you'll be sitting this day out.

Christy Kristoff and Tanjua Damon-Merrow wrote that days like Black Friday start the holiday season off on the wrong foot.

"No! I refuse to start the Christmas season wrapped up on commercialism ... we'll get our Christmas tree and set up the nativity instead," Kristoff wrote.

"Personally I think it kills the holiday spirit. The only spirit it helps is commercialism," added Damon-Merrow.

Not everyone who heads to the shops today will be spending money on what they consider to be the perfect deal.

Gizmo, wrote that he doesn't go shopping on Black Friday, but will be at the Manchester Pet Supplies Plus today from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., raising funds for pet rescues. Gizmo T-shirts will be available at a discount and 100 percent of the proceeds will be donated.

Are you one of those shoppers? Are you a business offering great Black Friday deals? Do you do Black Friday or do you prefer to stay as far away from stores on the day after Thanksgiving as possible? Tell us in the comments
