Vernon Budget Proposal Defeated in Tuesday Referendum

Council discussing its next move.

Residents and taxpayers rejected the $82.6 million budget proposal for the 2013-14 fiscal year in a town-wide referendum on Tuesday.
 
The count was 839 voting no and 649 voting yes. 

The proposal carried a 1.8-mill tax increase over the current tax rate of 33.63 mills.

The Town Council was meeting as the results came in and was discussing its next move.
