Vernon Superintendent Posts 2013-14 Welcome Letter

Superintendent of Schools Mary Conway has written the following letter in anticipation of next week's beginning of school: 

August 19, 2013

Dear Parents,

On behalf of the Vernon Public Schools, welcome to the new school year!  I hope that all of you have had a wonderful and relaxing summer.

This year promises to be great as we set high expectations for learning.  Most importantly, administrators, teachers, and staff are ready to motivate and engage our students in learning.  Teachers have been busy planning and preparing their classrooms for the new year.  We have been revising our curriculum and aligning it to the Common Core State Standards.   

Administrators have been training all summer in both the new teacher and administrator evaluation systems.

Each child brings to school a unique set of gifts to share.  We treasure each child and will work hard to ensure that your child learns, grows, and develops into an independent learner who is college and career ready upon graduation.  

Please make note that the first day of school for students in grades PK-6 and grade 9 is Wednesday, August 28th.  Students in grades 7-8 and 10-12 join them on Thursday, August 29th.  Please check our website  HYPERLINK "http://www.vernonpublicschools.org" www.vernonpublicschools.org for more detailed information pertaining to your child’s school.

As we begin our learning in this new school year, I would like to update you regarding recent administrative changes in our school district:
