What is Vernon Thankful For?

Residents and friends share their thoughts.

Just what is Vernon thankful for?

On this Thanksgiving, Vernon Patch is sharing just what people said to that question asked earlier this week.

Feel free to add your own comments to the list.

"I am thankful for every person in Vernon. When our son was diagnosed in January with a brain tumor it felt like our world collapsed. Everyone in Vernon rallied around us providing meals, offers of child care for our little ones, and were constantly checking on us. When it snowed, our driveway was plowed on hospital and MD appt. days. The staff and students at Center Road School kept things normal for him and the nursery school program at RHS kept things normal for our middle son. The Fire Department adopted us into their family as well. SO many things to be thankful for this year. THANK YOU VERNON!"

- Nancy Krupienski

"I am thankful for many things:

Good family and friends to support me in good times and bad (like after Winter Storm Alfred).

Although I am not rich, I am able to help people who are in need.

I am thankful for health insurance, no matter how trying it is at times to deal with the bureaucracy (many people have no health insurance at all), I am thankful to be an American.

Ohh … and I am also VERY thankful for flushing toilets (we have a well)!

- Pam DiDio

"The residents of Vernon are so friendly and nice. I moved to Vernon from west of the river a few years ago and love this town. From neighbors who help with snow removal to the folks working in the local businesses everyone is just so much more welcoming than those in the former town."

- Ann Kiehnle

"All of the volunteers, EMT's (and If I forgot anyone else, please forgive me) and others who took time away from their families to volunteer at the VCMS emergency shelter during the winter storm of October."

- Robin Lewis Taylor

"Lake Street School! Both my girls go there and we've all been happy with the experience. The staff is amazing."

- Christine Capazzi Brouillard

"Electricity and heat!"

- Dan Villeneuve

"Living in Tolland County which is a spectacular place to live! We have a wonderful quality of life with all of the amenities close by!"

- Andre Garant
