VFD Begins Toys for Tikes Collections

Donations can include toys and monetary contributions.

The Vernon Volunteer Firefighters Association has embarked on its annual holiday toy drive. 

It's the Toys for Tikes program and the VFD is seeking donations of toys and monetary contributions. 

Each Christmas the firefighters distribute these toys to the community’s less-fortunate children.

New/unwrapped Toys can be dropped off at any of the following locations:

• Court House Plus - 47 Hartford Turnpike.
• Crystal Blueprint – West Main Street.

• Fancy Feet Pet Grooming – 601 Talcottville Rd.

• First Niagara Bank – 348 Hartford Turnpike.

• Jumpin’ Jonnies – 234 Talcottville Rd.

• Rein’s Deli – 435 Hartford Turkpike.

• Rockville Bank – Lafayette Branch - Hyde Avenue,

• Suburban Subaru – Route 83.

• Vernon Police Station – Rt. 30 and West Rd.

• Vernon Public Safety and Ambulance Complex – 280 West Rd.

• Vernon Town Hall – 14 Park Place. 
•  Advanced Kitchens - 89 West Rd., Ellington.

Toys will be collected through Saturday, Dec. 14, fire officials said.   
Distribution to families who have pre-registered with the Hockanum Valley Community Council will be completed on Monday, December 16 after 7 p.m., fire officials said. 

Financial donations can be sent to The Vernon Volunteer Firefighters Association, Inc., P.O. Box 951. Vernon, CT  06066.

Questions may be directed to the Vernon Fire Safety Complex - 860-871-7468 – Option 2. HVCC screens all applicants for toys. Inquiries can be made via 860-872-7727.  Sign ups  must be completed this week.
