Vets Day Trash and Recycling Schedule Announced
The DPW offers a reminder on bagged leaves.
Here are two news releases from the Department of Public Works regarding Veterans Day trash and recycling pickups:
VETERANS DAY REFUSE AND RECYCLING SCHEDULE AND TRANSFER STATION CLOSING
The Vernon Public Works Department will be closed on Monday, Nov. 11, 2013 in observance of Veterans Day. Refuse and recycling will not be collected on that day but instead will be collected on Tuesday, Nov. 12 along with that day's collection.
Excess refuse and recycling may be brought to the Transfer Station free of charge year round on Wednesdays and Saturdays 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays noon to 4 pm. The Transfer Station will be closed on Sunday, November 10, 2013.

TOWN OF VERNON – PICKUP OF BAGGED LEAVES
Bagged leaves cannot be put out for collection with regular trash. A pickup of bagged leaves may be scheduled for the first two Fridays in December. Please call the Public Works Office at 860-870-3500 to schedule. Biodegradable paper bags or plastic lawn & leaf bags will be collected.
