Vernon Veterans ... The Mayor Wants You
He has invited all local veterans to march or ride in the annual Memorial Day Parade.
Mayor George Apel on Monday reiterated his invitation to all local veterans to march or ride in the annual Memorial Day Parade.
"It is important that our veterans are recognized on this important day. We invite all veterans to join us," Apel said.
Apel said those who want to participate can contact the mayor's office at gapel@vernon-ct.gov 860-870-3600.
Local car dealers have again volunteered vehicles for transportation.
The 2013 version of Vernon's Memorial Day Parade is scheduled for Monday, May 27.
The parade is presented by American Legion Post 14.
Here are the highlights:
• 8:30 a.m. - Ceremony at St. Bernard’s Cemetery.
• 10:00am Parade starts on Kingsbury Avenue.
• 10:30 a.m. - Ceremony at Grove Hill Cemetery.
• 11:15 a.m. - Ceremony on the Town Green.
