Vernon Streets About to get a Sweeping

The Vernon Public Works Department's annual sweeping program will begin over the next few days. 

Here are some ground rules:

• Residents and business owners are required to sweep sand from their sidewalks, driveways, and handicapped ramps (if applicable).

• Sand should be placed into the gutter line in long rows. Sand should not be swept into piles because it retains moisture that way and makes it difficult for the sweeper to collect. 

• Residents who park on the street should move their vehicles once they see the sweeper and crews are in the vicinity.
