Vernon's Arctic Splash Slated for Dec. 8.

The event raises funds for HVCC and kids camp tuition.

The water at the pond at Valley Falls Park is getting nice and cold.

Just in time for the annual Arctic Splash.

So get the costumes ready - at least the swim suit - and get ready to sprint into the water for a good dunk.

For good causes.

The Vernon Parks and Recreation Department sponsors the Arctic Splash to raise funds for the Send-A-Kid to Camp program and the Hockanum Valley Community Council. This year's version is scheduled for Dec. 8 at 1
p.m. at Valley Falls Park.

There is a $10 minimum donation to participate.

T-shirts will be provided to those who pre-register and raise $10 or more.

Awards will be handed out for the participant who raises the most money and best costume.

A bon fire will be provided to warm up after the plunge - weather permitting - and refreshments will be served.

For questions, e-mail the Vernon Parks and Recreation Department.
