Vernon Resident To Take Part In AngelRide

James Krupienski has a challenging Memorial Day weekend ahead with the 136-mile AngelRide.

Now in its 10th year, AngelRide is a two-day charity bicycle ride, with 100 percent of the donations going to benefit the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp Hospital Outreach Program.

About 385 riders will take part in the event, which will raise between $500,000 and $750,000.

It's a cause near and dear to Krupienski's heart, as his son Jack, 11, was diagnosed with a thalamic brain tumor three years ago.

Jack has been a camper at the Hole in the Wall Gang, which was founded by Paul Newman, for two years.

"It's a place for kids to raise a little hell," Krupienski said, quoting Newman.

The ride on Saturday is an 86-mile tour from Norfolk to Ashford. Sunday's ride is from Ashford to Mystic covering 52 miles, Krupienski said.

Donations can be made through Monday via:
