Vernon Memorial Day Parade to Step Off on May 27

The Mayor is inviting all veterans to join him.

The 2013 version of Vernon's Memorial Day Parade is scheduled for Monday, May 27.

As in past years, the ceremonies will begin at St. Bernard's Cemetery. The parades will begin on Kingsbury Avenue and end in Downtown Rockville.

The parade is presented by American Legion Post 14.

Here are the highlights: 

• 8:30 a.m. - Ceremony at St. Bernard’s Cemetery.
• 10:00am Parade starts on Kingsbury Avenue.
• 10:30 a.m. - Ceremony at Grove Hill Cemetery.
• 11:15 a.m. - Ceremony on the Town Green.

Mayor George Apel is inviting all veterans to join him in the parade. Like in the past, local car dealers are providing transportation vehicles.  Any veteran interested in participating can call the Mayor’s Office to sign up, 860-870-3601.
