Updated: Vernon Getting a Slight Taste of Winter Monday

THe NWS says to expect a transition.

Mother nature will be making her first real winter visit to the area into Monday morning. 

Snow began at about 12:30 a.m. locally. 

Here is what the National Weather Service is saying: 

Snow will transition to sleet and freezing rain before Changing To "plain rain" throughout the day on Monday. 

The transition will be more gradual inland. 

Snow accumulations of 1 To 2 inches are expected with locally higher amounts across northern and western portions of Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire. 

Ice Accumulations of about a tenth-of-an-inch are expected locally. 

For Tolland County, a winter weather advisory remains in until 1 p.m. 

The Vernon Office of Emergency Management is monitoring the weather.

The start of school has been delayed two hours, which means no morning pre-school.
