The Vernon Department of Public Works on Monday announced the Thanksgiving holiday schedule for trash and recycling collection:
The Vernon Public Works Department will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 28 and Friday, Nov. 29, for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Trash and recycling normally collected on Thursday will be collected a day early on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013.

Trash and recycling normally collected on Friday will be collected the following Monday, December 2, 2013 along with that day’s route.
Excess refuse and recycling may be brought to the Transfer Station on Hockanum Boulevard free of charge (permit & punchcards would not be required) year-round. Normal hours of operation are Wednesdays and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m. The Transfer Station will be closed on Wednesday, November 27, 2013.
