Tractor Supply Eyeing Vernon Plaza

The application is currently in the regulatory process.

A major national retailer has its sights on a shopping plaza along Route 83, the town's economic development coordinator said.

An application by Tractor Supply for a new free-standing building in the plaza at 400 Talcottville Road - the local name for Route 83 - has already been before the Planning and Zoning Commission and the Inland Wetlands Commission.

Economic Development Director Shaun Gately said it still has a few more regulatory hurdles to clear.

Tractor Supply touts itself as being the largest retail farm and ranch store chain in the U.S. It features things like fencing, lawn and garden supplies, pet supplies, clothing and footwear, and power equipment.

Gately said chain officials want to construct a building of between 19,000 and 22,000 square feet on the north side of the plaza.

The closest Tractor Supply is in Enfield.

Another national chain - Wendy's - has been exploring parcels in town for sometime, Gately said.
