The Patriotic Parade and the Fun Zone are July in the Sky Features

Two events stand out for the annual July in the Sky fireworks celebration - The annual Push, Pedal, Pull Patriotic Parade and the Fun Zone in Downtown Rockville and Henry Park, respectively.

Events at both locations are scheduled to start at 6 p.m. Parade judging starts at 7:15 p.m. (participants can line up earlier) and the Fun Zone opens at 6:15 p.m.

This year will be the 11th anniversary of the Push, Pull and Pedal Patriotic Parade.
The RockvilleCommunity Alliance is inviting people of all ages to join in - on bikes and trikes, in wagons, on skates and skateboards (but only for the parade) even on foot, if need be.

Participants traditionally decorate the vehicles in red, white and blue there is no right or wrong way - the sky is the limit.

Those who want to be extremely patriotic can dress up.

It is best to arrive with decorating in place, but for those who need a little something “extra” (or a lot extra) there will be volunteers ready to help with crepe paper and other colorful decorations.

A special crew will be ready to help with the decorating and organizing of this parade.

Decorating and line up start at 6:15 pm in front of Bank of America. Judging will be at 7:15 p.m. and the parade will start at 7:35 p.m.

The route runs from Union Street to Central Park and Elm Street and then back.
Uncle Sam and Martha Washington and friends will bring up the rear in an antique pickup truck, and be available for photos after the parade.

The “Fun Zone” will be held on the Frank J. McCoy baseball field.
The activities will start at 6:15 and will run until 9:15. Bracelets will be sold  for $5, which will give people access to all activities. Bracelets will be sold at the field.

Here are the highlights of the Fun Zone Activities:

• Monkey Motion Jumper: Soar up to 20 feet in the air, The “front to back” additional movement creates a new dimension of fun.

• Laser Tag: Unbelievable, awesome fun!! Shoot and hide behind inflatable bunkers. Blasters are equipped with rubber tips and foam covered barrels for added safety.
