Strong Farm Work Day Slated for April 13

The farm is being transformed into an agricultural education center.

The annual springtime work day at the Strong Family Farm has been scheduled for April 13.

The farm, located at the corner of West Street and Peterson Road, will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. that day. Volunteers are being sought to help with spring cleaning chores on the old farm and outbuildings before capital improvements can begin.

The farm will eventually be turned into an agricultural education center with full non-profit status.

A short orientation and farm tour will begin the day on April 13, followed by a few hours of work. Volunteers are encouraged to bring rakes, brooms, weed-whackers, gloves, safety glasses and/or paint brushes.

The work day also serves as an opportunity for people who have experience with agricultural antiques to help catalog and date the farm’s inventory.

All volunteers are then invited to bring something to share for a pot-luck lunch on the farm.
