RHS Unity Team Hosting Benefit on Dec. 4

"ROCK Strong" will benefit two students battling illnesses.

The Rockville High School Unity Team is hosting a benefit variety show for two students battling serious illnesses.

Austin Christensen and Abby Jones, both RHS freshmen, are battling Lympho-blastic Lymphoma/Leukemia and facing a kidney transplant, respectively.

On Wednesday, Dec. 4 at 6 p.m. in the RHS Auditorium, the Unity Team will be hosting the show, dubbed "ROCK Strong."

Unity team members said the intent of the event is to provide a “show of support” for Austin and Abby and their families, "as they deal with the seriousness of their illnesses."

The benefit will feature many groups within the school and community.  Student and adult bands will play, a display of artwork and performances by some RHS poets, vocalists and musicians will also be featured.

There is no cost for attending the event but donations will be accepted.

There will also be a raffle for a variety of different gift baskets and a bake sale.
