Parade of Fire Vehicles to Light Up Vernon Tonight

The tree lighting ceremony should take place at about 6:45.

Vernon's Winterfest Activities will step off tonight with a nighttime parade featuring fire vehicles from the Vernon Fire Department and surrounding municipalities.

The first truck is scheduled to be put in gear at 6:15 p.m. to start the parade.

The parade starts at Fire Station 1 near the Police Station.

Trucks will then proceed down West Street to Union Street.

The vehicles will then travel along Union Street to the Central Park Green. Around the green to Town Hall and line up for a tree lighting ceremony.

The tree lighting should take place at about 6:45 p.m.

“Vernon’s torchlight parade and tree lighting ceremony has become a special town tradition, as it provides residents with a great opportunity to gather together as a community to celebrate the start of the holiday season,” said Mayor George Apel. “I strongly encourage all members of the community to bring their families and friends to Central Park as we light the tree and celebrate this joyous occasion.”
