Oct. 5, 2011: Skating By

It's National Rollerskating Month.

1. Wait ... sunshine? Yes, accordiong to AOL Weather. Temperatures in the mid-60s and a 15 mph wind should dry the lawn out so one could skate through the yard work.

2. Skating? October is National Roller Skating Month, first declared by President Ronald Reagan in 1983.

3. The Roller Skating Association embarks on a month-long campaign to encourage children to lead healthier lifestyles. With cold weather headed our way, area roller rinks are inviting folks indoors for some climate-controlled skating fun. The perks? Skating is affordable, fun, healthy, suitable for all ages and can be done indoors or out. Skating is said to relieve tension as well so why not check out some local rinks and try your hand (or foot) at this recreational activity.

4. Not only does Skater City Amusement Park in Enfield offer roller skating, they also have “toxic” laser tag, an arcade and black-lit mini-golf.
