Miss Greater Rockville, Outstanding Teen Make the Rounds on Tuesday

They stepped out for their first appearances since the pageant.

Miss Greater Rockville Gina Salvatore and Miss Greater Rockville Outstanding Teen Jeanette Porcello made their first appearances in town on Tuesday since being crowned last month.

They attended a Business After Hours Event sponsored by the Tolland County Chamber of Commerce at the Visiting Nurse & Health Services of Connecticut on Keynote Drive and then spoke during the citizens forum portion of the Town Council Meeting.

The received a warm welcome at both venues.

They even joked about how well their crowns fit.

Salvatore and Porcello said it was just the first of many appearances over the next 12 months.

Salvatore is a 19-year-old theater student from the University of Connecticut. Porcello, is a 15-year-old South Windsor resident.

Salvatore's personal platform is one she formulated herself - Heart-to-Heart: Supporting Military Families. It's a topic that is hitting particularly close to home for her because her brother is currently deployed in Afghanistan. She said her family has an extensive military background.

She said she wants to be very active in military affairs in town.

Porcello's platform is Autism Families CONNECTicut - "Helping those on the spectrum reach their fullest potential."
