Miss Greater Rockville Desperately Seeking Charitable Donations

She has embarked on an intense all-day campaign after sponsors withdrew.

Miss Greater Rockville Katlyn Lewicke is in a bind.

She needs to raise $200 for the Children's Miracle Network by end of the day or face being declared ineligible for the Miss Connecticut Pageant.

The pageant is scheduled for June 28 through 30.

The entire Miss America organization, with which Miss Greater Rockville is affiliated, supports the charity.

All contestants must raise $250 for the charity as part of the entry process, Lewicke said. She said she had commitments from sponsors to raise that money, but over the last week, several of them pulled out and she was left with only $50 raised.

She also personally advocates for the network of hospitals.

"In addition to the requirement, I personally, want to boost Connecticut's annual contribution to this worthy cause," she said.
